PICKING TULIPS AT BURKET FARM
I am so excited to post about this, and it’s Flower Friday, so it’s perfect!
Burket Farm’s tulips are now in PEAK BLOOM!
You may remember that in the fall, Dustin and Susan from Burket Farm invited me to their planting weekend. I got to see the whole planting process and learn about the science behind tulips! They were even kind enough to donate some bulbs to Discovery Space for our programming!

Needless to say, I was so excited to return and see all the tulips in their full glory—and it did not disappoint! Honestly, there’s no need to take a trip all the way to the Netherlands, or Michigan when we have Burket Farm’s tulip blooms right in our backyard!
They planted over 60,000 bulbs this year, and they are all vibrant and beautiful. In fact, there are so many varieties; it’s amazing to see all of the colors!
If you want to visit, the process is easy, and you can pick your own tulips to take home too!

LOCATION AND PARKING
Burket Farm is located at 237 Burket Road in Tyrone, PA. When you pull in, they’ll ask for $5 per person. Kids ages 5 and under are free, and this is cash only.
They’ll direct you to where you should park. Right at the entrance to the fields, there’s a big container of buckets. Grab a bucket and head out to check out the fields and fields of tulips!
WHAT’S IN THE BLOOMING FIELDS
In the field, not only are there tulips, but there are also plenty of photo spots to capture your time there! I loved the larger-than-life wooden tulips and the Bloom sign!

I started by checking out each variety of tulip, then began picking! Some tulips came out of the ground easier than others, but overall, I didn’t need any special equipment to pick my flowers, and many came up with the bulbs!
YOU CAN PICK THEM AND TAKE THE BULBS FOR PLANTING

You are encouraged to take the bulbs so you can plant them in the fall and enjoy your Burket Farm tulips year after year! I love that! Each stem (with or without the bulb) is $1.
It’s so nice because when you go to pay, they’ll wrap your flowers for you, and you’re on your way!
This weekend is the time to go, with the tulips now in peak bloom, and there will also be food vendors and activities for the whole family to enjoy!
When I went on Thursday, there were a lot of people picking their blooms, so you don’t want to wait and miss out! Last year, Dustin told me they closed for the season early due to high demand!
I highly recommend checking out Burket Farm! I can’t wait to make this an annual tradition!
Thanks again to Dustin and the Burket Farm family for having me!
