ALTOONA WAS WARM AND WET

Average High Temperature: In March, Altoona typically has an average high of 47.7°F. In 2026, the average high temperature was 57.3°F. 

Average Low Temperature: The average low during March 2026 was 33.8°F, compared to the climatological average of 29.8°F.

Average Temperature: The overall average temperature in March 2026 was 45.5°F, which was above the average of 38.7°F.

Precipitation: March typical precipitation average is 3.01”. In 2026, we recorded 4.20” which is above average. We picked up 1.90″ of snowfall which is well below the average of 6.60” during the month of March.

Highlights:
Warmest Day: 83°F on March 22nd
Lowest Temperature: 13°F on March 18th.
Wettest Day: March 11, with 1.10” of precipitation.
Snowy Days: We had 1.9” of snow on March 17th.  


STATE COLLEGE WAS ALSO WET WITH MILD CONDITIONS

Average High Temperature: Typically, the average high is 45.6°F; in 2026, the average high was 53.8°F.

Average Low Temperature: The average low is 28.3°F, during March 2026 it was 32.5°F. 

Average Temperature: March 2026’s overall average temperature was 43.1°F, compared to the average which is 37.0°F.

Precipitation: March usually brings 3.38” of precipitation. In March 2026, we recorded 4.37”. We usually see about 9.40” of snowfall. March 2026 we ended up with only 1.6” of snow!

Warmest Day: 82°F on March 23rd. 
Lowest Temperature: 16°F on March 18th.
Wettest Day: March 23 was the wettest day with .1.30” of precipitation.
Snowiest Days: March 17th we picked up 1.5” of snowfall. 


NOAA’S APRIL FORECAST IS ABOVE AVERAGE

NOAA is forecasting April to have a bit above average temperatures and to be slightly wetter than average.

Our average high temperature in April is around 60 degrees. We also typically see at least a little snow in April too (we all seem to forget that). On average, we see at least a 0.50″ of snow.
